Entry at 11+

Each year, two classes are admitted at the age of 11 to join the Lower School, catering for about 80 children in Years 7 and 8. Currently, only day pupils are accepted although boarding places are planned for the future.

The Lower School lies at the heart of the college's beautiful campus. Here, the pupils have plenty of space for rest and relaxation as well as for catching up on study, chatting to one another or to their Form Teachers.

The Lower School is run by the Headmistress of the Lower School, Miss Leah Hamblett, under the overall headship of the college's Headmaster, Mr Richard Cairns. Pupils are thus members of the wider 11-18 college community and of the more intimate 11-13 Lower School.

The high level of pastoral care for which the college is renowned ensures that each child is treated as an individual. Boys and girls are encouraged to respect one another's differences in a climate that is warm and tolerant, and one which seeks to enthuse and challenge children to give of their very best.
